    Reporting bugs

    Hi,

I am not sure where I am supposed to report bugs, but I have come across a couple of simple things that thought should be highlighed on my E71 which I believe is S60 v3.

First of all, in my SMS Sent folder, depending on whether I created a new text message or replied to one, the way the name is displayed changes. For example, 'John Smith' is displayed as both 'Smith John' and 'John Smith' in the same folder.

Second bug I found is when typing a text or email on the phone. When a new sentence starts, the device knows to automatically put an uppercase letter - great. Yet if I type a letter and then decide to delete it and start with a different letter, it is lowercase. When I had a SonyEricsson mobile many years ago it was able to cope with this deletion no problem. It knew that after a full stop it should be uppercase. Seems like my Nokia is half way there!

Anyway, I wonder if someone can move this to the correct forum where someone at Nokia will see these bugs.

    Thanks.

    Marco

    Re: Reporting bugs

Please note that this is a site for software developers and that we are concerned about S60 as a software platform and not about S60 enabled devices as an end product.

Your bug reports are welcomed if your are a developer and if you are facing problems with the APIs and not with Nokia's final products (like the issues described above). For such issues please see http://www.nokia.com/support and http://www.nokia.com/discussions.

What is the current state of ‘our’ Bug Tracker? The last time a bug was changed/commented by Nokia was in October 2012.

    Re: Reporting bugs

Any news about what's going on with the bug tracker?

If it's no longer used by Nokia, maybe that could be clearly stated in the front page (or better, every page) so people wouldn't waste time submitting bug reports there...

    Re: Reporting bugs

    Hi guys,

there's a lot of spam (i.e. invalid bugs) coming through that tool so it is possible that valid issues get lost. Do mention here the bug you are interested in (give bug ID or link to it) and we will have a look at it.

    Best regards,
    Lucian

    Re: Reporting bugs

The public bug reporting system is still active and we ensure that new bugs are transferred into internal systems. Where possible we also cross post responses and questions from the internal development teams.

    Re: Reporting bugs

Thanks for the info. However, you'll have to admit that to someone who doesn't know this, it looks like nothing happens with the reported bugs. It would make things more clear if a comment could be added or the status would be changed to something else than NEW when a bug is copied/transferred to the internal system.

ltomuta: The bug I'm interested in (just would be nice to know that the report was read by someone and the crash could be reproduced, or that this is already a known issue) is #1302:

    http://developer.nokia.com/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=1302

Another report that might be somehow related is #1303:

    Re: Reporting bugs

As of today, all links to the Bug Tracker redirect to this discussion board here. Because the Bug Tracker itself is still mentioned in the Developer Support Webpages:
    1. Are the redirects intended behaviour?
    2. Are these redirects temporary? or
    3. Is the tracker gone, now forever?
How do we create bug reports: Via technical support tickets or via end-user customer support channels?

    Re: Reporting bugs

The bug tracking system was discontinued (permanently) some months ago. Programmatic defects related to non-Windows Phone platforms may be posted in the respective discussion boards and will be cross posted by Nokia Developer technical experts. Windows Phone defects are handled by Microsoft.
