    Problem with LocationListener, applicattion Blocked!

I have a tracking application, but the problem is when I set the LocationListener. The application works for a few minutes (sometimes only for a few seconds) and then the application blocks and I can do anything. I don't know if it's my problem or a problem of Symbian.

The telephone that I use it's Nokia 5800 Xpress music.

Any idea about my problem? any suggestion??

    Thanks a lot!

    Hi,

The errors like this could be for various reasons, mostly due to memory leak or some crash. did you encounter any crash?
If not have you enabled JIT. Here is the link to it.

Also its better to expose some of your code and pin point to the line/function of the problem

Re: Problem with LocationListener, applicattion Blocked!

    Hi,

my application throws no error, but it's blocked. The application works perfectly in Windows Mobile, but in Symbian it frozen. I believe that the problem it's the Listener, because if I change the listener and I create everytime the locationProvider it works, but then I have another error. Symbian -36 (that means disconnect, and I didn't know why).

But I think that the Listener it's the best solution, and it works in WM!!

Maybe it's problem of memory?? I do flush after write in outputStream. I must put JIT enabled if my application didn't throw an error??

    Thanks man!

    Hi,

-36 (Disconnect) is again for various reasons, but mostly you can blame your service provider :P
But that should not be a problem in your application.

Some crashes/panics/errors are suppresed which is why JIT is required.

Re: Problem with LocationListener, applicattion Blocked!

I have all the options checked in the C++ Debugger in emulator and I haven't an error, only the application block.

All I have in the Errrd file is: ECHO is off.

And finally when I press the red button to out of the application the emulator closes in 5 seconds.

    It's so crazy!!

    Hi,

If you are debugging on Emulator, here is the way to do it,
To get the emulator display the reason and error code for panics, start the emulator, then open its Tools -> Preferences menu, and finally make sure the "Extended panic code file" option is checked on the C++ Debug tab. (This has the effect of creating a zero-sized file named ErrRd (no file name extension) under the PC's directory %EPOCROOT%\epoc32\wins[cw|b]\c\resource\.)

Re: Problem with LocationListener, applicattion Blocked!

I don't really understand a few things about this problem:
    - what programing language do you use?
    - how is the code that runs on Windows Mobile related to the code you run on Symbian?
    - what is that Listener object?
    - what is the last line of code that gets executed?
    - what is the line of code that you expect to see executed next but never happends?
    - what was it in the http://wiki.forum.nokia.com/index.ph...ded_panic_code article that make you expect something to be written in epocwind.out?
