    Question Improve Quality of icon.

    Hi all,

I have created generic buttons with icons.
    Icons created using CFbsBitmap.

I converted the bitmap file to mbm file using bmconv. [c/24]

My problem is the quality of icon is very bad .

How do I create icons with good quality?

    thanks,
    remesh

My advice is not to bother with the SVG icons.

Instead, what you need to do is get the size right.

    1) Define a large white icon
    2) Make a screenshot of nthe device and the area where the icon should be
    3) Measure the size of the white area in px on the screenshot with GIMP
    4) This is your new icon size

As Nokia is unlikely to deploy new screen resolutions, you need to plan for but two: QVGA (for non-touch) and Nokia WeirdRes for touch.

Note that there are older devices with the CIF-compliant 176x208 and 352x416 resolution too. Otherwise the widescreen-resolution is not that random/extreme: 640 is actually the well-known horizontal resolution of VGA, and the size itself is the ninth of a HD image (640=1920/3, 360=1080/3, 9=3*3), that is why it is called nHD.

    Hi,
as for the first two: these are IMHO so rare now that developing software for them doesnt pay. Plus, most of them are not V3...which makes it all a moot point mostly.

As for Nokia WeirdRes - I have to admit that I still like 4:3 screens best. But lets talk about that another time ;)

In case you are looking for a code to load bitmaps from mbm files - I have it in this thread (altough you must look at my last post at the bottom for an important correction):
