    Smile playing percussion notes

    Hi

    How do i play percussion notes using midicontrol. I tried channel 9 (works with the sun wtk) channel 10 (midi spec) and even channel 11 (just for fun ) but none seem to work on a nokia device (im using a 5800). All midi channels on the nokia seem to work as a normal instrument channel.

    Try this, it work now on my Nokia N73...

    public void initDrums(int can)
    {
    // SP-MIDI supports two percussion (drum) channels, Channel 10 (default)
    // and Channel 11, which defaults to a melodic channel but can be
    // switched to a percussion channel using the following sequence of messages:
    // 1. Bank select message (Control Change #0) with Bank# MSB value 120 (0x78H)
    // 2. Bank select message (Control Change #32) with Bank# LSB value 0 (0x00H)
    // 3. Program Change message with value 1 (0x00H)
    try {
    mControl.shortMidiEvent(MIDIControl.CONTROL_CHANGE | can, 0, 120);
    mControl.shortMidiEvent(MIDIControl.CONTROL_CHANGE | can, 32, 0);
    mControl.shortMidiEvent(196 | can, 1, 0);
    } catch (Exception e) {
    System.out.println(e.toString());
    }
    }
