    New "Most Popular" index

Does anyone else find the major change that occurred a few days ago in the "most popular" sort order improbable?

Yeah, it appears to have been reset when the latest batch of apps was published.
The "most popular" sort order changes radically when one is logged to when one is logged out.
The manner in which "Most popular" works is weird.... I wonder if anyone from Ovi explain how this works?

    Re: New "Most Popular" index

This is what appears to have happened when the new batch of apps was published today.

After sorting applications by "Most Popular" for a specific category of application:
    1. When you're logged in - all the new apps appear in front of the old apps, while the old apps remain in the previous most popular order (ie the order from yesterday afternoon).
    2. When you're logged out - all the new apps appear in front of the old apps, while the old apps are sorted by date added with those added last appearing at the bottom of the list.

Strange behaviour for a "most popular" sort. It’s wrong and therefore gives a misleading impression to customers and is confusing for everyone.
Plus we have no reliable way to gauge how well an app is selling (no sales reports).

    Exclamation Anyone @ OVI

    Bump

Is Nokia aware of this issue ("most popular" and "newest" index mix-up) and is it being worked on? (This is particularly bad for us!)

    Thanks,
    Pat

    Hi Ron,
This still appears to be happening. Do you reckon it's by design? That is, adding new content to the start of the most popular sort.
    Thanks,
    Spol

I think it is because this is July and Finland goes on vacation in July. The Ovi support team that respond here are in Canada but they can't do anything about it.

    Re: Anyone @ OVI

Publishing to Ovi Support (the guys who answer here) are aware of this. But they can't fix it and no one else is doing so. I'll need to write to a senior manger to see if they can sort this and the search out.

By the way I understand why the newest would be in front of Old popular ones, if not then it becomes a self fulfilling order. But the oder apps should stay in order logged in and out. Also the newer apps should just be for a limited period of time.

Wouldn't that sort be clearer if titled something like "New and Noteworthy" or even "Recommended"? I think people's expectation of "Most Popular" is based strictly on quantity of views or downloads. As an example, see this article about app stores on ME. The data they present for the OVI store is completely wrong because of this.
