Nope, that service is operator service, and it can not be controlled from the device. However, if the network does not have it, you could make a local "caller tone" application, by just playing a audio file when the call is in dialig mode.

Actually made one few years back for my previous employer, now that you reminded me on that I gotta ask if I get rights to us ethe code, and if so, there should be a freeware version soon available at my site...

    symbianyucca,
thank you so much for the lightning fast reply. yes, you are right that the caller-tone is controlled by the service operator but im under the impression that we will need to set up a server that will be linked to the operator (telcos) via the caller-tone gateway or some other gateway that can link from my audio files to the operator network?
i am looking forward to see your codes that you mentioned. i hope that your previous employer will see that you have the rights to your codes.

    is this (http://www.drjukka.com/) your website?

thanks again and i feel warm and fuzzy (welcomed) from this dev forum.

The operator services are propably handled a bit differently between different countries and companies, so you'd be better on asking directly from a operator you would want to implement this service.

Yep, that's my personal (not linked to my work in anyway) site for my hobbyist stuff, actually if you want to surf it with a mobile, I just opened mobile site at m.DrJukka.com last weekend..

Re: RingBack tone (caller-tone) network system

it was rather simple, basically just using CTelephony to monitor call line, and when ever it is in "Dialing" state, just play a audio file. And in the UI part the audio file could be selected.. Nothing really fancy to be honest..

say, if you want to start selling/providing caller-tunes for the subscribers of a local small telecommunication company. instead of using their application server, how else can you do it? what kind of hardwares involve and how would you configure them?

(eg: HP server, ithium, E1 card, etc)

Re: RingBack tone (caller-tone) network system

    Yucca,

When A party calls B , A will listen to the audio file set as Callertone -- Network service by Operator

Can you share some details how you implemented this from local Caller tone application

When A calls B , program residing on 'B' plays audio file so that A listens to it.

If so telephone line status will be in EStatusRinging state in 'B'?

    Regards,
    Sudhakar
