    If I understand you correctly then you need to handle HandleKeyEventL()

    Code:
    TKeyResponse CYourControl::OfferKeyEventL(const TKeyEvent& aKeyEvent,TEventCode aType)
        {
        if (aType == EEventKeyDown)
            {
            switch (aKeyEvent.iScanCode)
                {
                ...
                case KeyCodeHere:
                    {
                    // Here you can handle event
                    YourMapFunctionHere(Param);
                    }
                    break;
                ...
                }
             }
         }

    Re: Character recongnition for Key events capturin

    Hi,
    I am getting the key events for characters in Offerkeyeventl function if the keypad is QWERT one. But in N95 and E65 (small keypad), I could not capture the key character pressed.
    How can i do that?

    Thanks,
    Jinu

    Hi,

    You can give the ASCII values of keys (eg :-'#' == 35) to capture the key press event.

    Hi,
    I am getting the ASCII values. But the issue is that when i press the device key (2 abc) it will give only the value 2 in the Offerkeyeventl function. I am not getting 'a' or 'b' or 'c' characters.

    Thanks,

    Hi,
    Someone pls let me know how can i track characters(a , b, c etc) in offerkeyventl function? If it is by using the TKeyEvent elements, what r the values it gives for characters? Can it be implemented in emulator.?

    Thanks,

    Hi,
    Sooe mone pls help. The character events are properly handled in S60 editors(CEikEdwin). If anyone has access to S60 source code, then Editor's offerkeyeventL implementation may have the solution. I hope there are many guys in the forum who has access to S60 source code. Someone pls help .

    Thanks,

    You use the Predicitve Text Engine (http://library.forum.nokia.com/index...IndexPage.html) which will link the key presses to the different engines for inputting text
