    Post [announce] pymgfetch 3rd

Pymgfetch is an external Python module for PyS60. It is a wrapper for the Symbian C++ MGFetch::RunL function and allows you to present a selection dialog to the user, showing the contents of the phone's media gallery. This extension is available for both the 1.9.X series and the 1.4.5 version of PyS60.

For usage, examples, and installation instructions visit pymgfetch at google code.

This is my first attempt at creating a PyS60 extension, so I would love to hear what you think. So far I've only tested this on my E71, but I'm guessing it should run on any S60 3rd edition phone. Let me know if it works, or if you run into any problems.

    Cheers,

    Thomas

    hello treitmaier

great to see a new extension.

    Hello gaba88!

I have developed it for Py60 1.4.5. I don't think that porting it to 1.9.x would be too difficult. If there is enough demand I would consider doing it myself.

    Cheers,

    Thomas

Ya i will advice you to port the module to the latest PyS60 1.9.x series.
And while packaging the module i will advice you to go through the docs which explain about the module repository.

    Regards
    Gaba88

Yes, I agree. 1.9.x is the future and you will have many possible testers, like me ! This feature is missing in Python and it will be very useful.

    Thanks

I'm pleased to announce that I have now ported pymgfetch to PyS60 1.9.7. To download pymgfetch and for installation instruction and usage examples head on over to the pymgfetch homepage at Google code. Feedback, questions, comments, bug reports, etc. are always welcome!

    @ Marcelo and Gaba88,
thanks so much for your feedback and for the module repo idea.

    Cheers,

    Thomas

Impossible to wait. Great job, treitmaier
How about to write an article ? You can give details about wrapping the C++ class, any possible pitfall during the development and pymgfetch usage.

I tested in XM5800/PyS60 1.9.7, although installer said that app was not compatible with the phone (?).

I saw a small error in the wiki page:

The pymgfetch module only has one method:
    pymgfetch.browse(filetype=EAnyMediaFile, title=None, softkey=None)
It is missing the module name:

    pymgfetch.browse(filetype=pymgfetch.EAnyMediaFile, title=None, softkey=None)
PyS60 team, we need this component *without* signing it for each phone !
