    BaseConstructL(EAknEnableSkin |EAppOrientationPortrait )

    but when i test my application on Nokia E63 it remains in Landscape mode.On emulator its working fine.But on this Device its orientation remains in Landscape mode.How do i Change it to portrait??I want that my app should run in portrait mode.

    Try implementing this function in Your appui Class:

    void CiMyClassAppUi::HandleResourceChangeL( TInt aType )
    {
    CAknAppUi::HandleResourceChangeL( aType );

    if ( aType==KEikDynamicLayoutVariantSwitch )
    {

    iAppView->SetRect(ClientRect());
    }
    }

    AFAIK E61 do not support switching the orientation, even if you want to switch it from code. I have no experience with E63, so check if this is the case for E63 also.

    Yes, they have default orientation as landscape (i.e. width of the page is greater than the height)

    On E63 try with EAppUiOrientationLandscape and check if it gives you the desired result

    Actually you may want try switching to landscape mode too. Landscape-portrait are likely interpreted as "rotated" and "natural" position of the keyboard.
    So even if the display of those qwerty devices is wider than tall, the orientation (of the device?) might be considered to be "portrait".
    And yes, some of those devices (like the E61) surely do not support changing the orientation. CWsScreenDevice can list you the available screen modes by the way.
