how to make references to files in projects

Without actually doing an Import (copying to ur project folder ) is it possible to include files in ur workspace in Carbide ?

lets say you have project x and project y. if project y needs some files of X i just want to refer to it rather than copying of teh actual files thereby involving duplication .. Any suggestions ?

USERINCLUDE, SYSTEMINCLUDE, SOURCEPATH keywords are all capable of handling paths like ..\..\otherproject

I have not seen sourcepath but the other is just for include files. I would like to include .cpp files shared by projects. only place i see sourcepath keyword is in the mmp file itself in the text mode but i believe there should be another way of doing the same.and also it doesnt show graphically as being in ur project space.

Not knowing something does not mean that it would not work.
And an usual code already has
    Code:
    SOURCEPATH ..\src
    SOURCE x.cpp
    SOURCE y.cpp
    block.

    Extending it as
    Code:
    SOURCEPATH ..\src
    SOURCE x.cpp
    SOURCE y.cpp

    SOURCEPATH ..\..\otherproject\src
    SOURCE z.cpp
does not seem to be confusing to me.

Otherwise if you plan to do this regularly, you should rather consider converting the relevant parts of "otherprojest" to a static/dynamic library.
