    Re: Ring

Manjul it looks that JayaKrishnan is just trying to produce the ring tone which plays when someone calls his phone... using a J2me app's sometime even when their is no incoming call.... am I correct JayaKrishnan?

    thanks,

    Re: Ring

afaik you cannot play your ringtone as in just calling a pre-installed ringtone..
What you can do, to my knowledge that is, is play a custom ringtone if you supply it within your JAR...
Through the PIM (JSR-75) you should also be able to play your ringtone if you place it in a "reachable" directory for the API... To know which directories those are and how you can adress them I would advise to read that specific API's documentation or using the Java Developer's Library :

Its true that u can play any midi or any supported audio or video file as ringer via application but u cant play the ringtones of device which is preinstalled or u can say they are placed at system folders on which we cant get acces to play them. So playing a audio/video file is quite a different thing from playing the ringtone of device.
