    Nokia N97 - virtual keypad

    Hi,

I have few issues with Nokia N97.
    1. Is there any option to close (automaticly and / or manually) the virtual keypad that is beaing opned in Nokia N97 when opening a J2ME application?
    2. Is there any option to close only part of it? the ABCD buttons?

    Thanks,
    Yohay

    1) Yes, you can close the keypad by this JAD attribute ->

    Nokia-MIDlet-On-Screen-Keypad
    5th Edition
Specifies the on-screen keypad for a Canvas application.

This attribute is valid only in touch-enabled devices that have limited physical key availability.
    no, gameactions or navigationkeys.

    Example:

    Nokia-MIDlet-On-Screen-Keypad: no

    2) If you want only softkeys.... disable all by Jad and paint your own.

    thanks,

You're referring to the navigation/game pad that appears on a Canvas?

This can only be controlled globally for the entire application, via a setting in the JAD or MANIFEST.

    Code:
    Nokia-MIDlet-On-Screen-Keyboard: { no | gameactions | navigationkeys }
For example, to remove the pad altogether:

    Code:
    Nokia-MIDlet-On-Screen-Keyboard: no
"gameactions" provides the ABCD buttons, "navigation" does not.

As "gameactions" provides the ABCD buttons, "navigation" does not, but if you need only ABCD without Navigation so you may need to set Nokia-MIDlet-On-Screen-Keypad: no and draw your own soft buttons ABCD on the canvas.... checking the orientation of the device ?

Re: Nokia N97 - virtual keypad

    Hi,
    Thanks for the help.
I did it, using the Nokia_N97_SDK_v1_0_ and J2ME wireless toolkit 2.5.1 but with no result. I set
    Nokia-MIDlet-On-Screen-Keyboard: no
but the virtual keypad still shown.

    Thanks,
    Yohay

Check this JAD attribute on real nokia 5800 or Nokia N97 device:
    Nokia-MIDlet-On-Screen-Keyboard: { no | gameactions | navigationkeys }

    It works.

It doesnt work on Sun WTK emulators.

    thanks,

Re: Nokia N97 - virtual keypad

    You're right, it's:

    Code:
    Nokia-MIDlet-On-Screen-Keypad: option
Where "option" is no, gameactions or navigationkeys.

My fault, it looks like I copied it from the docs incorrectly. Sorry for the confusion.

    Graham.
