    Virtual key board(Vkb) launch problem

    Hello All,

    I am doing a project in S60 5th edition. In my project my requirement is to launch VKB as soon as the symbian native(CEikRichTextEditor) comes into focus not by tapping into the editor. For that i have written following code.
    void LaunchVkbL() const
    {
    MCoeFepAwareTextEditor* lFepEditor = iEdwin->InputCapabilities().FepAwareTextEditor();
    if(lFepEditor)
    {
    CAknEdwinState* lEdwinState = STATIC_CAST(CAknEdwinState*, lFepEditor->Extension1()->State(KNullUid));
    if(lEdwinState)
    lEdwinState->ReportAknEdStateEventL(MAknEdStateObserver::EAknActivatePenInputRequest);
    }
    }
    This code works fine if i call it from HandlePointerEventL() function or offerKeyEventL() function but does not seems to work if i call it from any user defined functions. Somehow i managed to call it from Draw() function but from there it works sometimes fine but sometimes panics with WServ 10.
    I dont understand whats the problem ...any help would be highly appreciated.

    Thanks
    Shobhit

    Re: Virtual key board(Vkb) launch problem

    Hi,

    panic reason:
    Attempted to activate an already active graphics context.

    On the server side, this is raised by CWsGc::Activate() as a response to a EWsGcOpActivate request.

    The request is sent by the client-side method CWindowGc::Activate().

    It means the wserv is already active and you are trying to reactive it again.

    Thanks Mateen,

    This explaination i have already checked in SDK but the problem is sometimes Wserv 10 panic appears and sometimes not in the same code. But when i dont use the lines of code to launch VKB code works fine.

    Hi,

    It will be better if you provide some code sniphet as its not clear what could be wrong in your code.

    Re: Virtual key board(Vkb) launch problem

    Hello Mateen,

    In the first post of this thread i have shown a function which is i am using for VKB launch,
    this code if i used to call from simple draw function of helloworld example given in 5th edition SDK with some flag true and false mechanism(so that this function can be called once from any of the menu event given in example code)it shows Wserv 10 panic on emulator sometimes.
    I hope this will help you.
