    GPRS On Hold during call

We want GPRS connection to be use during call. According to our scenario, our application is using GPRS, but during call the GPRS gets on hold. How can we make GPRS to be used uninterrupted, any idea.

The device we are using is N97, i.e. S60 5th Edition.

Re: GPRS On Hold during call

    Hi,

Basically the call application puts all the best application in waiting state till the call is over as the call application is having the highest priority in symbian. You need to bypass your application priority to be higher in order to make ur application use the gprs call, or make the call app in waiting state and switch the call from your gprs connection.

Re: GPRS On Hold during call

I think what the OP means is when there is data activly transmitting (for example piush email) and a call comes in the data stream is suspended until the call is terminated.

This is largely a function of the network operators hardware since the N97 is a Class A device.

The only way you can really fix this it to make sure the device is running in 3g mode which is a CDMA "transfer" mode.

I think, UMTS has no problem during active Calls (not on hold).
So, i doubt your comment on applications' priority.

Because UMTS is not available everywhere, where without UMTS, GPRS will be used. I am also searching for how to use GPRS also during an active call.

    CDMA/UMTS?

    Hi Paul,

I have also tried setting "3g transfer mode/duel mode" where UMTS is not available. The GPRS is used in this issue. But the GPRS connection is suspended also during an active call.

The specification for GSM class A is in meaning "simultaneously GSM call and GPRS data connection", but I don't know, which handys do support this function?

    regards,

    Pai
