    Exclamation installing the operatingsystem on mobile phone

    Is their any known case of installing operating System on mobile phone , i mean any mobile phone at what ever cost ..., now that "Android" is open source , i want to introduce my own api in it and install it on any phone model (where it can be installed ) and want to check if my api is working well or not . It may be reverse also , if possible i would like to delete some code and reinstall it on mobile phone and check how its working .

    Most often you can not install new OS to your device, with nokia devices you can use Software update to get latest version of the firmware. Also Making your own APIs is easy, just get the Carbide C++ IDE and some Symbia C++ SDKs, and make DLL's that can be used by other applications as well.

    Is symbian supported only by Nokia ? are their any other company that supports symbian, i have heard that now nokia is also delivering its mobile phone on other linux platform ... so will it be good for me to learm carbide c++ rather than android.

    Samsung, LG also support/produce Symbian phone

    Motorola, & Sony-Ericsson used to support as well, anyway, you could check the Symbian foundation pages for all foundation members.

    Carbide.c++ is an Eclipse based IDE, you don't have that much to learn about it. Symbian C++ (a specialized flavour of C++) might be a thing you want to learn but for cross platform development it is better to learn Qt (http://qt.nokia.com)
