Re: ERROR: Connection lost. Try again

Developers have to download too!! That's how we test our apps...

    There are two probable causes:

    1. You have a bad network connection. Try disabling 3G on the device (something like Menu, Settings, Phone, Network Mode, set to "GSM"). Sometimes, if there is a good 2G signal but a poor 3G signal, the phone switches back and forth between the two, and this seems to cause problems.

    2. The network may be blocking downloads above a certain size. How big is your JAR? See if you can download something smaller (start with 60k, and work up to establish a limit).

Re: ERROR: Connection lost. Try again

I don't think the WML is the problem.

Is your Sony Ericsson on the same network? Can you use same SIM card in both phones? Are they both 3G, and do you have a 3G signal?

I recommend you use a JAD file, not just a JAR. Use the URL of the JAD in the WML page. Use only lower-case letters in the JAD and JAR names (to avoid case-sensitivity issues).

Re: ERROR: Connection lost. Try again

OK. You have a lot of rubbish in the JAD, and possibly in the JAR's MANIFEST too. Don't put anything in there that you don't need.

    Try:

    Code:
    MIDlet-Jar-Size: 185344
    MIDlet-Jar-URL: application.jar
    MIDlet-Name: Application
    MIDlet-Vendor: Vendor
    MIDlet-Version: 1.0
    MicroEdition-Configuration: CLDC-1.1
    MicroEdition-Profile: MIDP-2.0
I've changed "Application.jar" to "application.jar". Please do keep all the file names and URLs lower-case only. It is easy to run into problems if you mix-case.

Can you answer any of the questions I asked earlier:

Is your Sony Ericsson on the same network?
Can you use same SIM card in both phones?
Are they both 3G, and do you have a 3G signal?
Have you tried switching 3G off?

"Connection Lost" does not relate to WML, JAD or httpd.conf problems.

When you're downloading with the JAD, what exactly happens? You should select the link, and then see a page describing the application (name, vendor, version and size), with the option to continue with the download, or abort. Then the download process should proceed.

Re: ERROR: Connection lost. Try again

Well, try switching 3G off on the Nokia (5610XM is a 3G device), and try using the SIM card from the Sony Ericsson in the Nokia.

You are still getting "invalid application" on the Sony? Then there is something wrong in your JAR (or your JAD is not matching the JAR).

Try reading Why Doesn't My MIDlet Run?, and check everything it suggests carefully.
