Application getting rejected due to 'phone not supported by ovi'

Our application got rejected couple of times giving the reason 'phones not supported by ovi', first of all these phones were there in their supported list, secondly if we remove all these phones, there will hardly be any phone left in this category (symbian 2nd edition, 176x208).

Can anybody explain what exactly they want???

    Thanks

    Check for OVI guidelines carefully.

You can check OVI supported device list by logging into the publish.ovi.com, then in support tab, you will get "OVI supported device list" pdf.

I went through this a couple of times too

It is quite annoying that the Ovi publishing site doesn't check for this automatically, if it will fail QA. It should be easy to implement such a check ... or even better have the content pass QA for all other devices and leave the unsupported ones in postponed state until they are supported.

We had the exact same thing happen. Unfortunately, here's what's going to happen. You're going to find out, if you haven't already, that even though every Nokia phone under the sun is listed in the OVI devices supported list for a file, no S60v2 devices are listed in a different OVI list of phones supported by OVI (OVI store supported device list). In fact, listing support in the OVI file devices supported list for any device not on this other OVI supported device list is cause to fail QA. For example, if you have a piece of passive content that supports all the OVI supported device list phones and a few more, and mark it as such in the OVI content item file devices supported list, QA will fail you. So, what you're going to end up with are your S60v2 content items stuck in your content list with no way to delete them.

    Hope that helps

Re: Application getting rejected due to 'phone not supported by ovi'

    Hi,

    Thank you for your questions.

List of supported devices is available here: https://publish.ovi.com/help/content_providers. The list will get updated soon. One trick to get the latest list is from store.ovi.com.

Here is the idea how QA works when they see non-supported devices selected:
    1. If non-supported devices are the only devices publisher select in the distribution, the content is QA failed.
    2. If there are non-supported devices along with supported device, the content is not failed. In fact, the non-supported devices are left in pending, testing will be done in supported devices.

Currently QA will not fail the content only because it has both non-supported and supported devices mix in it. There must be other reason why your content is failing.

    Hope this helps.

    Thank You,
