Disabling an installed application

I want to make an application in Symbian which when installed on the phone should disable a pre-installed application otherwise it should block that application.
For example, my application should block the messaging service of the device.

So would it be possible to do that in Symbian? If yes, how can I do that?

Thanks

He means that you do that like on any other OS: if you don't like the application you kill its process as soon as you detect it running. That's not very nice though and you better have a good reason if you ever want to see your application Symbian Signed.

If you would like to stop/block the native sms application, then you can not kill the sms application. You have to develop an application that can listen for all incoming and outgoing sms and can block them.
Use Qt-Quick to make your application UI more attractive.

Read articles in WIKI related to messaging

Listening for incoming SMS messages : http://wiki.forum.nokia.com/index.ph...g_SMS_messages

Observe folders KMsvGlobalInBoxIndexEntryId & KMsvGlobalOutBoxIndexEntryId

Actually I want to stop that application. So if killing that process is not a good idea then what would be the better way to do?
Could you help me explaining a bit more further cause I am not finding a way?

Re: Disabling an installed application

I have a feeling that you are simply asking about TFindProcess and RProcess::Kill. Check them in the SDK Help (perhaps the Wiki too), and note that you will need PowerMgmt capability for shutting down processes.
