Question open socket in 8080 with trusted 3rd party app

    Hi!
Someone has the experience in opening a socket (SocketConnection) in port 8080 without getting a secutiry exception? Because I´m thinking in buying a verisign/thawte certificate only to avoid this exception and I not sure that this is possible with a trusted 3rd party application, because JSR says:

"The implementation of SocketConnection using TCP sockets must throw
java.lang.SecurityException when an untrusted MIDlet suite attempts to
connect on ports 80 and 8080 (http) and 443 (https) ."

But it says nothing about trusted 3rd party applications.

    Thanks in advance!

PS: I can´t use HttpConnection because I´m trying to develop a http server in the device (N97)

For a server, you need to use ServerSocketConnection, not SocketConnection.

How do you want to use your HTTP server?

You will be able to connect to it from a browser running on the phone, but you will not be able to connect to it from anywhere else. You will not be able to serve content to other people.

You can easily test using a different port.

    Yes, sorry, i´m using ServerSocketConnection...
I know that I only could connect to it from a browser running on the phone, that is the idea of this project.
I have test with another port and it works perfectly, but according with my especifications (I don´t know why) I have to work with 8080 .

    Thanks!
