Wink Qt for maemo developers guide - beta published!

    Check out http://wiki.forum.nokia.com/index.ph...velopers_Guide

160 pages of good stuff - still some updates needed on the Qt side though to get the Qt 4.6 info in.

    Cheers,
    Jack

Re: Qt for maemo developers guide - beta published!

    Hi,

I have a trouble installing Qt on scratchbox for Fremantle SDK.
The 'apt-get update' command wouldn't work for this url: 'deb http://repository.maemo.org/extras-devel/ fremantle free non-free'.
    It says:
    Code:
    Temporary failure resolving 'nokes.nokia.com'
    Failed to fetch http://repository.maemo.org/extras-devel/dists/fremantle/Release.gpg
On the other hand, the packages for Diablo were downloaded well.
Did anyone face the same issue?

    Thanks

    Hi,
I had faced the same problem which you are facing.

I had download the ubunto image with maemo sdk for use with virtual machine.

So I think now i have to install Qt on it and when i try to run the command 'apt-get update' it gives the same error which you have mention.

Can anybody guide me for the installation of Qt on ubunto maemo sdk image using VMWARE.

    Thanks in advance.

    Regards.

Re: Qt for maemo developers guide - beta published!

    Hi !

I am trying to follow the section ESBOX IDE but I had some problems. The first is related to download. The document specifies the following link:

    http://esbox.garage.maemo.org/beta1/...date_site.html

Since it was not available yesterday, I downloaded the files cited as "pre final release". Is this right ? Or should I have downloaded any other version ?

Moreover, I tried to use the feature "Build Debian Package" but it didn't work for me. I created the Debian structure and my Qt project was running properly (I tested in Xephyr). Before posting long lines of log I would like to know if someone tested this function following the developer guide instructions.

    Thanks !

Yes, it is not working. I am using the "pre final release" but I checked again and we have a new version (esbox 2.0.0 Integration Drops - lightly tested). you can find both here:

    http://esbox.garage.maemo.org/2nd_edition/releases.html

Yes, but as I am running Linux, I installed scratchbox not using VMWare image instead I did a native install. It is working fine. Just "debian package generation" option (inside esbox) is not working for me. However, it works at command line.

Nice to hear that links is now working. Some DNS propagation, who knows ...

    Ok, I figured it out.
    Problem is inside this file:
    /scratchbox/users/maemo/targets/FREMANTLE_X86/etc/apt/apt.conf.d/99proxy
Make it empty, and the 'apt-get update' command would work.

Please note that it should be done for all the scratchbox targets.

    Hi,

I think now that i also have to a native linux installation instead of using a image on VMWare. But it takes a lot of time to do all my setup again. Can anybody have installed Qt on VMWare image?
    Thanks.

    Hi,

I had tried the suggestion given by the carbider but it do not works for me. Are you using a VMWare with the ubuntu image? I had downloaded the image of maemo pre final from HERE.

Is this the correct version or I have to use a different image.

    Thanks and Regards

Re: Qt for maemo developers guide - beta published!

Yes the document was made good manner, it's interesting to read. After reading a bit of the document, I've started configuring the Maemo SDK on my machine. So later I reallized it's not so easy job to set it up. I felt the cutomized Ubundu virtual image is a better way to start with the development. The internet speed is very bad, so it was too time consuming for me to download the virtual images. Now I'm able to boot the virtual image on VMWare.

Initially the /scratchbox/login was working fine, then when I tried to execute qmake, I got some error message. Second time when I tried /scratchbox/login, I got this error message "ERROR: Scatchbox is not properly set up!"

I never worked with a virtual image before. Now how will I proceed with the installation proceedure further is the question, after downloading the scratchbox script file (maemo-scratchbox-install_5.0beta.sh) how do I access it from the virtual OS? The downloaded files are in my local machine's drive. Is there any option to access/mount my hard drives from the virtual OS, or is it already have been mounted? And is it possible to access the internet from the virtual os? Anybody knows how to do it?

Re: Qt for maemo developers guide - beta published!

    Hi,
To run the command qmake, Qt must be install properly on your virtual image.

If you are using a image maemo prefinal ubuntu than i think that Maemo SDK is already installed on it and no need to do the scratchbox installation as /scratchbox/login is also working fine. ALthough I am also working first time on the virtual image and maemo SDK.

This is what I am thinking about the Virtual image, correct me if I am wrong.

Second thing you can connect the internet from the virtual image provided your original OS should be connected to internet properly. You can download the file from your virtual OS only so that the file can be access directly.

    Hope this will helps you.
