    Flash Lite and Text decoration

    Hello everybody,

    I hope you can help me.
    I am looking for a solution to color or underline Words within my text area in Flash Lite.
    I parse the XML structure on my stage in different text areas and I already use different text styles within these different text areas.

    Does it make sense?
    Please help me

    Re: Flash Lite and Text decoration

    hey,

    its me again.
    I am just wondering, if the htmlText property is the right solution for me as I am parsing information from a XML file.

    Code:
    this.createTextField("my_txt", this.getNextHighestDepth(), 10, 10, 160,
    22);
    my_txt.html = true;
    my_txt.htmlText = "<b> this is bold text </b>";
    It will trace This is bold text.

    But I have a path trough my XML document, similar to "this.firstChild.childNode[0].firstChild.childNode[5].nodeValue" and when I write this between <b> </> it will trace me exactly this.firstChild.childNode[0].firstChild.childNode[5].nodeValue

    What can I do (to decorate this text, the value, the node)
    Does it make sense?

    Thanks a lot

    "Does it make sense?"
    Yes it makes sense... you've just started learning actionscript ??

    "But I have a path trough my XML document, similar to "this.firstChild.childNode[0].firstChild.childNode[5].nodeValue" and when I write this between <b> </> it will trace me exactly this.firstChild.childNode[0].firstChild.childNode[5].nodeValue"

    Did you put this code :
    myText.htmlText = "this.firstChild.childNode[0].firstChild.childNode[5].nodeValue";
    ???

    You should try this
    myText.htmlText = "<b>" + xmlNode.firstChild.childNode[0].firstChild.childNode[5].nodeValue + "</>";

    where xmlNode is the variable storing your XML !

    Here is some code sample :
    Code:
    var myXML : XML = new XML();

    function doSomething(node : Object) : Void
    {
    myText.htmlText = "<b>" + node.firstChild.childNode[0].firstChild.childNode[5].nodeValue + "</>"
    }

    function XMLLoadedHandler(success : Boolean) : Void
    {
    	if (success)
    	{
    		doSomething(myXML);
    	}
    }

    myXML.onLoad = XMLLoadedHandler;
    myXML.ignoreWhite = true;
    myXML.load("xmlfile.xml");
