    Does Usb serial conection need to be certified signed?

    hi guys:
    i found this:
    "
    Opening data port loaned (DATAPORT.CSY) from a CSD data call using RComm::Open()
    "
    from http://www.forum.nokia.com/Technolog...olutions.xhtml

    and My project use USB serial connection to PC. and it use
    RComm iComm;
    iComm.Open(iServer,_L("ACM::1"),ECommExclusive)) here.
    So, I want to know that whether my project need to be certified signed or just to be expressed signed? thank you very much.

    If you are about to have your application signed, it is probably working. If it is working, you obviously know what capabilities it use. And if you know what capabilities you need, you can obviously decide if the code can be Express Signed or not.

    Why are you quoting only the irrelevant parts? The statement is

    Opening data port loaned (DATAPORT.CSY) from a CSD data call using RComm::Open() requires the following capabilities: NetworkServices, NetworkControl, and CommDD.

    For other CSY modules the following capabilities are needed:
    BTCOMM.CSY – LocalServices
    IRCOMM.CSY – LocalServices
    ECUART.CSY – No capabilities needed
    So, depending on which CSY you work with you have you capability requirements listed out for you and then, based on that need you can use this blog post to figure out the signing implications.

    Thank you very much. My prject works fine with Open signed online. Does it mean that It will work fine with express signed?

    Thank you very much for your replies.
    My prject uses only EUART1 csy and ECACM, so i think we don't need certified signed.

    Another question: My prject works fine with Open signed online. Does it mean that It will also work fine with express signed? thank you very much.

    Consider reading the documentation on http://www.symbiansigned.com
    "Complete Guide To Symbian Signed" contains features and restrictions of the different signing types. The restrictions are based on capability usage, it does not matter which .csy your application loads.
    If you are already there, do not forget checking "Symbian Signed Test Criteria" too, an other important piece of documentation.
