    java.lang.OutOfMemoryError J2me SDK 3.0

    Hey, I get this error when I try to run it on the 3.0 SDK, the application works fine on the WTK and the memory consumption according to the memory monitor is 220k. on the CLDC properties the heap size is defined to 4MB.

    Here is the error:

    TRACE: <at java.lang.OutOfMemoryError>, Exception caught in Display class
    java.lang.OutOfMemoryError
    (stack trace incomplete)

    Anyone know why this happens?
    Thanks,
    Adam Zehavi.

    I mean except the obvious fact that it is out of memory, I mean why does the heap size is 4mb and an application of 200k that works on real devices and the WTK gets the SDK Emulator out of memory??
    Thanks,
    Adam Zehavi.

    Re: java.lang.OutOfMemoryError J2me SDK 3.0

    Hi,

    I know this thread is a few months old. But I recently had the same issue as you, but thanks to the magic of SVN was able to identify what I did...

    I was able to track the error down to this line of code in my project, midlet class:

    Code:
    Display.getDisplay(this).setCurrent(canvas);
    Now I hadn't this issue before, so I figured it was something configuration wise that had changed, in the end was sort of. I had add the Motorola i716 sdk to my configuration and when set to that configuration it had an error with the following code block:

    Code:
    protected void showNotify() {
      super.showNotify();
      // my custom code
    }
    So in my haste to get it compile I changed to this...

    Code:
    protected void showNotify() {
      showNotify();
      // my custom code
    }
    So I think it ended up with a cyclic reference error when calling the showNotify method in the setCurrent() method of the Display class.

    Anyhoo that was my issue/solution
