    Camera problems

    Hello, i am trying to make a simple Python app that uses the camera for my phone, but i have a problem, every time the method camera.take_picture is called the phone freezes with no warning or error message.

    I took a program which worked on my old N95, and then got rid of everything else to test if this method was really the problem:
    Code:
    import e32, camera, appuifw, key_codes

    print 'hi'
    pic = camera.take_photo(size = (640,480))
    print 'picture taken'
    pic.save('e:\\Images\\picture1.jpg')
    print 'bye'
    This program just writes "hi" and then freezes.

    My phone is a Samsung i8910 and i'm using Python 1.9.7. If anybody knows a solution to this problem i'd appreciate some help, thank you.

    Nobody knows what the problem here might be? Can anybody test the above script on his phone to verfiy it should work?

    Could Samsung's phones be incompatible with pys60's camera functions? Do i need to download some more modules? Is it a problem with Python 1.9.7? Any ideas and suggestions would be welcome.

    Hello jernej gosar ,

    Do you have this mode (640x480) in i8910 ? Please, check it first using camera.image_sizes(). I had a problem in XM5800 using an invalid resolution. If this sounds too newbie please don't blame me I am just trying to help and I have only Nokia phones.

    yep, it's in the list, the phone supports 640x480 and 8 other resolutions, i tried changing it and it didn't help

    I'll try with some older release of pys60 now, i hope that will help

    EDIT: Now i tried Python 1.4.5 and it has exactly the same problem.

    I suspect this is a Samsung compatibility problem. Is there any way to get in touch with the developers of PyS60 about this? And what are the odds they will actually try to fix it?

    if you feel thats a bug you can report that at the maemo garage and then it will be into the PyS60 team attention.
