Reverse Geocoding with static maps on Symbian Phone

Hi, I'm doing a project for my university degree which part of it involves implementing google maps. Since I've based my application with flash lite, I'm limited to static maps which I've manage to accomplish.

However after some light researching I discovered I can give users that do not have a GPS enabled phone or signal the option to find their location using cellids and LAC. However I cannot find a definite API on how to convert cellid/LAC to Lat/Lng. There are some old posts which refer to http://www.google.com/glm/mmap, however it seems to be outdated.

Has google removed this api to reverse geocode?

    Hello,

You can go to the url (http://code.google.com/intl/en/apis/...ntation/flash/) that I believe should have the API you needed.

For anyone following this thread, I found the following API to convert a cell to an actual coordinate.
    http://www.opencellid.org

However how could I retrieve the following details from flash lite on my Nokia device?
    mcc: mobile country code (decimal)
    mnc: mobile network code (decimal)
    lac: locale area code (decimal)
cellid: value of the cell id

    Hi,

The mcc, mnc and lac are protected APIs and not available to the Flash runtime. You can however use the GPS directly to retrieve lat/lon/alt data using Nokia's Platform Services, or KuneriLite.
