Camera focus control and other settings on the 5800Xm

Can I configure Camera settings via Python script on the 5800XM.
    I would like to configure:

    a. Focus
    b. Exposure
    c. White Balance

    Is this possible?

Yes i think these 3 characteristics can be cofigured while taking a pic using camera module of python . Take a look here :

Thanks for the reply, but I couldn't find any reference to focus settings at that link.

O i just misplaced the word "zoom" with the word "focus". You can only configure these properties :
mode, size, zoom, flash, exposure, white_balance, position
For details , read here :
    Camera Module Documentation

Thanks, Any workaround to get focused pics?.. or any callback that python receives as soon as the autofocus has locked?
Without focus control I wouldn't be sure if the quality of pic captured is good or not?

I dont know if there is a work around already but one can try to make a new Python Module in Symbian C++ as it is possible in Symbian C++ :
    Using_the_camera_autofocus_feature_in_S60_devices
Without focus control I wouldn't be sure if the quality of pic captured is good or not?
Well! it depends upon the context in which u r using this module. Better to test urself to learn more.

I tried to make an extension with focus callbacks about a year ago (from the same samples) and have run into threading and crashing issues because of the focus observers. If you can solve that architectural issue then I believe it will work.

In my instance I ended up building a separate application file for taking the photos and using python to process the pictures afterwards.

So is the only way to take focused images on S60 phones is with Symbian C++ ?

Well, right now, yes C++ is the only way.

I am sure that somebody with more knowledge and patience in dealing the @#$^% symbian c++ can make it work but it just has not been done yet.

On the other hand you could say that this critical feature has been omitted from python runtime because whoever developed the camera integration valued his sanity more than focused images ;-)

Its also not included in the J2ME MMAPI or advanced api's, if a phone of the calibre of 5800XM doesn't have programmable ability of taking focused images then I really don't know what to say?
    Here I come Symbian C++.

Is it possible that when python is taking the snap it automatically focuses and then captures the image?
Or does it not bother about focusing and just triggers the capture?

It just takes the picture without focusing.
