    Mute camera shutter sound in java midlets

    Hi, I have Nokia 5530 (symbian^1). I installed patch that native Symbian C++ application are silent, but when I take a photo in my midlet by getSnapshot(null) I hear sound. How shut up java's sounds on Symbian platform?

    Have you tried disabling the shutter sound in the camera settings on the device?

    Yes, when I set silent mode in phone, native photo-application was silent, but my j2me app was loud. In addition I installed patch CenRep, but it doesn't help me in midlet.
    It's important for me, because I have to make webcam that send data over BT and in J2ME probably only send images from phone in real time is possible.

    Here is a good trick, how to disable a sound of a shutter, with playing of a tone. You have to set a short sleep time, for initializing tone playing. So here is my code:

    try {
    Manager.playTone(1, 100, 1);
    Thread.sleep(30);
    data = videoControl.getSnapshot("encoding=jpeg&width=600&height=800");
    } catch (MediaException e) {
    } catch (InterruptedException e) {
    }

    I hope it will help you
