Invalid jar error -- all solutions tried !

    -------
    .htaccess is having...

    AddType text/vnd.sun.j2me.app-descriptor jad
    AddType application/java-archive jar

    $cat Mobile4Mumbai.jad
    MIDlet-1: Mobile4Mumbai,,Mobile4Mumbai
    MIDlet-Jar-Size: 32317
    MIDlet-Jar-URL: Mobile4Mumbai.jar
    MIDlet-Name: Mobile4Mumbai
    MIDlet-Vendor: Vendor
    MIDlet-Version: 1.0
    MicroEdition-Configuration: CLDC-1.0
    MicroEdition-Profile: MIDP-2.0

    $ ls -lrt *.jar
    -rwxr-xr-x 1 user group 32317 2009-12-27 14:45 Mobile4Mumbai.jar
    ------------

Mimetype is coming fine, Jad looks fine, Jar looks fine, Midp/cldc in jad also fine, Jar file size is fine, No App sign. Still on some device it is telling "Inavlid Jar" "Object type not supported".

Some solutions here, if you haven't been there already.

    Two doubts
    1. we are using image as .gif (this is not icon)
    2. We are using WMA to send SMS
    3. Device Nokia E51

You should avoid GIF. Use PNGs. But that's not your problem.

I always recommend using a three-part version number (like, 1.0.0). I doubt that's your problem on the E51, but it might help on other devices.

There doesn't appear to be any problem. At what point during the installation does the error message appear?

Key points in the sequence are:

    1. Select JAD from download page.
    2. JAD is downloaded, application details displayed.
    3. User confirms download, download begins.
    4. Download completes, application installs.
    5. User confirms to start application.
    6. Application starts.

Where does yours fail? Is it always the same place?

Re: Invalid jar error -- all solutions tried ! --- solved

    Hi

unfortunately, i come to know previously working app on the phone is now we r not able to install.

After removing all app, the same jar is working fine. I think there is nothing related to App, but something wrong with the phone. Still not know what was the root cause, now the same jar is working.

    What i did is
    -uninstall/remove all the app.
-tried install the app again...and it just worked.

    my phone is Nokia E51
