Question How to package a video file

    Hi

I want to package a video file along with other installable (.wgz) into a .sis file.

I was going through the available documentation but couldn't figure out how to specify the video file details in .pkg file. This link mentions about how to specify the jar/jad/wgz files in .pkg file but does not say anything about other type of files (like image/video).

Could someone please clarify how this can be done ?

    Thanks.
    Anil

Video would be just normal content, nothing special really needed. Just have the source defined and then the target.

Question Re: How to package a video file

    Hi symbianyucca

    Thanks for the instant reply.

But I was not able to understand what you intended to suggest. You said
Just have the source defined and then the target.
Did you mean defining the source and target in .pkg file ? If yes, then could you please explain how to do it ? I tried putting the following line in .pkg file -
    "..\data\test.mp4" - "d:\WidgetInstaller\test.mp4"
While installing the .sis file on device, it says - "Cannot install test.mp4"

Refining my question a bit - How can I direct the .pkg file to just put the video file (test.mp4) on the device instead of trying to install it.

    Thanks
    Anil

I would try not defining the target drive, D-drive might also not be a good idea in the end..

Re: How to package a video file

    Hi symbianyucca

    Thanks for the response.

I would like the target drive/path to be specified. The reason is -

I have a WRT widget (.wgz) which should be able to play the video packaged along with it. I tried adding the video file to .wgz itself but could not figure out how to access (the path of video) and play it.

So, I am trying to package the video file outside the .wgz in a well defined path using a .sis file. If the path is well defined, then I should be able to play the video from the widget using "file://".

Please suggest if you have any other ideas.

    Thanks
    Anil

Re: How to package a video file

How exactly are you attempting to play that video file once installed from a WGZ file? It is not at all unlikely to have graphic resources (images, flash, audio) in a widget and to render them from the install location. To discuss more about how to do that, feel free to discuss the topic in the Web Runtime widget forum of this board.

To make a sis file, you have the answer already in these thread. Althoulg it would likely be more complicated since you would have to control your widget's installation form the SIS as well. You may want to avoid drive D however since that drive is very small and only temporary available, all its content being removed when the phone is rebooted.

    Hi Lucian

    Thanks for your response.

I will post a query in the WRT forum regarding image/video rendering.

    Thanks
