    SDK S40 3rd Edition differences

    i am developing Java Softwares for S40 3rd Edition
    i tested the Jar on
    Nokia N73 and Nokia 6120 (S40 3rd Edition FP1)
    my friend Tests the same Jar on Nokia 6288
    which has S40 3rd 1.0 (init release)
    it seems that the Jar doesnt work correctly at his phone
    i tried install the 3rd (1.0) Emulator but Windows seven doesnt support it
    A.is there a way i can install the Emulator?
    B.is it something wrong at his phone or there is a big difference between the SDK's

    Thank you

    Well... there are a number of differences between the devices. Different APIs, for example.

    Can you tell us how the app doesn't work on the 6288?

    Yes..

    class Extends Canvas

    {
    .....
    UserCanvas can = new UserCanvas();

    Sorry, I don't understand. What happens (or doesn't happen)? Does it install? Launch? Run? You see a blank screen? There's an error message...?

    So, the first Canvas displays OK, but is unresponsive?

    Most likely, an exception in being thrown, but caught (hence you don't see it), causing the code that advances to the next Canvas to be skipped.

    I take it you're not using any APIs supported on the N73 and 6120 but not on the 6288? That's the most obvious source of difference.

    Yes.

    For starters, the 6288 is missing a lot of APIs that the other two have. So, the first question (since I know nothing about your application) is whether or not you are using any of those APIs.

    APIs that the 6120 and N73 have, lacking in the 6288:

    JSR 172 J2ME™ Web Services Specification
    JSR 177 Security and Trust Services API for J2ME™
    JSR 179 Location API for J2ME™ 1.0
    JSR 180 SIP API for J2ME™
    JSR 205 Wireless Messaging API 2.0

    Graham.
