Hi,two months ago ,i had the same idea with you, that is add a textbox/form to the canvas, but in fact,i am failed. So i suggest you paint some strings and several rectangles on the canvas, and when need input the username or password, you create a textbox and input the string, then you paint the string on the rectangles,I done the login like this.

you have to gettext from high level GUI text boxes and display it in rectangles you have drawn in canvas using

    PHP Code:
    drawString(String strint xint yint anchor

You can paint two colors ,the usename rectangle is red,the usename rectangle is gray, the fault focus is on the red rectangle,at this time,if you press OK key, then new TextBox(),and write the usename string on the Textbox, then paint the string on the username rectangle. If you press the DOWN key, then change the colors of the two rectangle, and the focus is changed correspondingly, and now when you press the OK key,you new TextBox() again use to input the password string, and you paint it on the password rectangle.

Re: how to add textbox in canvas?

your problem is you want to display a high level GUI component in Canvas which is low level GUI nd therefore not possible so what you can do is

create a login screen from canvas and on click of rectangle named username and password you can direct your display to HIghlevel GUI component TextBox and accept user input in dat screen when the user done with screen inputting and press ok you have to pass this Textbox string in your canvas screen and display it in rectangles this is the simplest workaround for your problem other workarounds are

1..create your own lowlevel textbox here an example
2..use third party libraries like lwuit, j2me polish, etc

    Saurabh
