how to make a HTTP server in a flash stub aplication

i've searched the forum with no success...
please help, or redirect me... a simple clean short code will be awesome...

or someting else to communicate from flash to SIS

guess wanna make my own kuneri...
I successfully compiled the stub application and works fine... the flash app needs to save data to a txt file and some existFile() function...

    this is my app: http://work.shpe.ro/?id2=00030011

First, a .SIS is just an installation kit, like .MSI for Windows or .DEB for Debian versions of Linux. Are you sure you want to manipulate SIS files, i.e. (un)install applications from a flash file?

Now, there's already Kuneri Lite and the API Bridge provided by Forum Nokia. Do you want to create a new such framework or would you simply need to extend it, to add more services which are currently not supported?

API Bridge at least does support file access so make sure you evaluate it before jumping into creating a new framework.

Re: how to make a HTTP server in a flash stub aplication

    rephrase

I wanna do a symbian aplication that opens a flash aplication and the flash could communicate with the symbian app

my flash app is a photoviewer and need to save some data (position of the photos). and needs about 32-200K to save data (depends on how many photos is in the phone, let's say about 100bytes/photo)

with flash sharedobject(flash cookies) does't work anymore (limited to 4k, initial firmware for nokia5800 was unlimited cookie dimension)

my flash app loads thumbs that are made by nokia gallery app in the phone... but if the thumb is not there, flash will give an err for every thumb that is not generated (no err handle in flash lite ); so to hide this errors will have to implement some existFile() function... flash capabilities are limited so I have to do from symbian app... but there have to be some dataExchange from flash to symbian... so I guess http request form flash to localserver, and symbian socket 80 app to responde...

I don't think that WRT will help...

Re: how to make a HTTP server in a flash stub aplication

I don't think that WRT will help either, but since both the API Bridge and Kuneri solutions are nothing but servers running on the phone and handling commands received over a certain protocol it doesn't really matter whether the client is a widget or a Flash Lite app, does it? All that matters is for that client to be able to access the server and send commands.

Here's how you access the bridge from Flash Lite: http://wiki.forum.nokia.com/index.ph...idge_Interface

Now that I've read the API Bridge's page I do see however that it only support reading file content so it seems some extension would be still needed to add write capability.

As for writing your own server well, it is doable as well. I don't remember seeing any server code samples recently though, and the Apache port is too heavy for your task. You will have to start from scratch and create one.

ok, but I kind of want to make a standalone application...
I guess I'll could go with this for now... (the user is to have installed API bridge for my app to work...)

    thanks a lot

You could ship the API Bridge with your Flash Application. But first see if it meets your needs or not.

Re: how to make a HTTP server in a flash stub aplication

I give it a look, it is definitely what I need!

10x a lot... good think that I've asked... I set my mind only symbian programming... because when I developed my app, I had this problems... and now, flash APIs and this API BRIDGE IS PERFECT for developing flash apps

hope not to have any problems in publish on ovi an app that uses API BRIDGE (will be with a *API Bridge needed)

Re: how to make a HTTP server in a flash stub aplication

Flash applications are deployed on S60 through SIS file and all you need is a line like
    Code:
    @"APIBridge.sisx",(0x2???????)
in the PKG file to make your application a "*Includes API Bridge" type of project. Thus no problems with Ovi. Check the PKG file format for details.
