    hello world midlet says invalid app on nokia 6230(simple)

    So I'm a programmer new to the java world, just trying things out of curiosity and boredom. I'm sure there is something simple I'm missing here.

    Here is the program:
    import javax.microedition.midlet.*;
    import javax.microedition.lcdui.*;
    public class NewClass extends MIDlet implements CommandListener {
        private Command exitCommand;
        private TextBox tb;
        public NewClass() {
            exitCommand = new Command("Exit", Command.EXIT, 1);
            tb = new TextBox("Hello MIDlet", "Hello, World!", 15, 0);
        protected void startApp() {
        protected void pauseApp() {}
        protected void destroyApp(boolean u) {}
        public void commandAction(Command c, Displayable d) {
            if (c == exitCommand) {
    I slapped it into netbeans, a Java ME project. I read the forums and tried all kinds of different build settings and platforms, disabled obfuscation, etc etc. When I install it on my phone it says invalid application.I have a nokia 6230i and If you do check the specs it supports MIDP 2.0.

    So what am I missing?

    The issue probably lies in your JAD or MANIFEST (in your JAR).

    Try Why Doesn't My MIDlet Run? Installing your first app is often a problem, as there is a whole bunch of pitfalls. Check the issues described in the wiki carefully, and if you still don't find the problem, post your JAD and MANIFEST here.
