    fetchgooglemaps cannot run on handphone

    Hi, All,

    Notice that the URL is GMAPS_STATICMAP_URL_TEMPLATE = "http://maps.google.com/staticmap?center=%1,%2&zoom=14&size=%3x%4&map type=mobile&markers=%1,%2&key=ABQIAAAAnfs7bKE82qgb3Zc2YyS-oBT2yXp_ZAY8_ufC3CFXhHIE1NvwkxSySz_REpPq-4WZA27OwgbtyR3VcA&sensor=false";
    where key=ABQIAAAAnfs7bKE82qgb3Zc2YyS-oBT2yXp_ZAY8_ufC3CFXhHIE1NvwkxSySz_REpPq-4WZA27OwgbtyR3VcA is the special 'localhost' key for the Google Maps key.

    But if we want to run this app on actual phone, shall we apply for a new google key for mobile phone, if yes, how to do it?

    Thanks in advance.

    Re: fetchgooglemaps cannot run on handphone

    The Google Maps API keys are mostly used for when other websites make use of the Google Maps API. Using the Google Maps API directly from a computer (or mobile phone) only requires the localhost key, so if fetchgooglemaps doesn't run or doesn't run correctly it's not the Google Maps API key that is the problem.

    As an aside, I've run fetchgooglemaps on a phone recently and without troubles, although "works for me" may not be that valuable a comment if it's not running for you. If you can verify that your GPS and WLAN settings are fine then everything should be good.

    Regards,

    David Laing
