It is possible to publish QT app on Ovi store?

    Hi everybody,

I know this question has been made a lot of times; but it seems that I cannot find an official answer but only jargon. So the question is. It is possible to publish Qt apps on Ovi Store? Has anybody already done this? Has anybody already published a QT app really on Ovi Store?

Please let me know your comments!!

    Thanks in advance

    Dear publisher,
Thanks for your request. Definitely you can upload your application created using QT. For example, you can create symbian application using QT and upload it to the OVI.

    Theroetically, you can.

The issue is that all dependencies must be bundled into the SIS file. And this - AFAIK - is not possible until the Qt OTA installer drops.

Actually you can embed the Qt dependencies to the .sis-file, but it increases the file size about 10 MB. So it's not possible to publish Qt for symbian apps in the Ovi store atm. (2 MB file size limit?)

It says in the Qt's documentation that the release of the Qt smart installer, which installs Qt OTA, is scheduled to Q1/2010 so I think you'll have to wait for that... or newer symbian devices which comes with Qt.

Let me push this to the front again - a forum thread for the installer has already been created!

We should be able to release any minute now...

If you notice I've already started a new public discussion board for the installer in the Qt forum so I expect it announced soon.

As far as I know, no. You need to wait for it to be final/official, before you can use it with apps for Ovi Store.

You can, if you speak at a few large events and embarrass Nokia openly about the topic. Once you do that with 6 Nokia managers watching and getting pale, you are allowed to do so within 48h.

Else, you get promises and promises - and go out empty in the end.

Re: It is possible to publish QT app on Ovi store?

The page http://www.forum.nokia.com/Develop/Qt/ states "The Qt SDK now includes the final version of the Nokia Smart Installer for Symbian." and "Qt based apps for Symbian devices using Smart Installer can now be submitted to the Ovi Store.". But the current Nokia Qt SDK (v1.0 rc) contains the file: smartinstaller-readme.txt which states "Nokia Smart Installer for Symbian ("Smart Installer") Beta Version 0.18". Can anyone clarify the situation?
