    Image Issue

    Hi,

I am downloading images from server. The downloaded images gets stored in a application directory specified by me. The images are also getting stored in images gallery.

I am able to delete the images through my application in application directory but images remain in image gallery.

Is there a way to avoid the images getting stored in images gallery?
    Regards

    Re: Image Issue

you should propably try using some directory that would not be visible for the gallery, like any folder under system folder, or your own private directory.

    Re: Image Issue

if you put it into the private directory only, it should never show in gallery, so how are you getting the image and store it in the firts place ?

    Hi,

    Thats not a private directory.
Its accessible to all apps on device.
    Private directory would be \private\<SID>\

May be u shld save ur file to that directory.

Please do read the basics of the platform securty, knowing it is really must on Symbian development, so you could indeed save loads of time by doing a bit of studying.

    Re: Image Issue

    Hi

Thanks for the advice. I read this doc

S60 Platform: Symbian Platform Security FAQ. Nice one a lot of info.

    Still the problem persists.

I store the images in \private\<SID(rec'd from Symbian Signed)>\AppFolder\Image.bmp

Although the text and configuration files that I used to store are not visible through File browser but I can see the images in galley as well.

    Any more suggestions?
    Regards

    Re: Image Issue

so how are you getting the image ?, is it first saved somewhere else ? how do you copy it to your private directory ?

Gallery definetely is not showing private folders images.

Is there an alternate way of preventing the images getting stored in images gallery?

    Re: Image Issue

I do not think this as an ideal solution but you can delete the duplicate file from the Image directory. Is there really duplicate entries? I am not sure whether the images stored in your private directory will be shown in the image gallery, though.

By the way, if there is duplicate then where does it store it in the public folder? Is it in c:\data\images?

    Re: Image Issue

No its not in C:\data\images. Its in image gallery and my private folder \private\<SID>\AppName\Image.bmp

In image gallery it stores as image/x-epoc-mbm

In App directory it stores as .bmp

If I delete image in either of the folder the images in other folder also gets deleted.

I am not sure why is it happening like that.
