    Set the codec and format before recording. You are using VOIP API or APS for recording.

    Re: Recording in AMR Format

    Hi amit,
    just have look at following code

    Code:
    iRecorderUtility->OpenFileL(iFileName); //iFileName contains path of the file ex: c:\data\sound.amr

    in call back

    iRecorderUtility->SetGain(iRecorderUtility->MaxGain());
    				TRAPD(err,
    						iRecorderUtility->SetDestinationDataTypeL(KMMFFourCCCodeAMR);
    						iRecorderUtility->RecordL());

    here the err is -5 (KErrNotSupported)
    pls tell me whats wrong with this...

    i also tried with codec and format for wav ,that is working fine ...but my goal is recording in compressed format ( if i recored using wav format ,the size of the file would be 20 to 30 kb for 3 sec duration , on the other hand ,the size will be around less than 5 kb for the same )

    i want to come out from this probs.
    Regards,
    Gobi

    Re: Recording in AMR Format

    Try the following:

    _LIT8(KAMRHeader, "#!AMR\n");
    RFile filename;
    RFs fs;fs.Connect();

    filename.Replace(fs,_L("C:\\data\\Sounds\\testfile.amr"),EFileWrite);
    filename.Write(KAMRHeader);
    filename.Close();
    fs.Close();

    Now in OpenFileL() pass the above name of file.Also you don't need to set or get the suppoerted data type
