Uncoded graphics appearing on phone but not emulator

Hi guys. I'm new to Nokia Java coding and I recently installed the the JAR for this Compass example (http://wiki.forum.nokia.com/index.ph...ons_in_Java_ME) to my phone.

The program itself runs perfectly in the emulator and on the phone (which is an XpressMusic 5800, by the way) - however when run on the phone, the bottom half of the screen gets some graphics drawn to it that are not in the code. There is a 4-way directional button graphic along with 4 buttons lining the bottom of the screen labeled "A", "B", "C", and "D".

These graphics do not show up in the emulator, only on the phone. I've read through the source code and don't see them being explicitly drawn anywhere.

Please help me figure out what's going on.

    Thanks.

Thumbs up Re: Uncoded graphics appearing on phone but not emulator

    Hello,
Welcome here on Forum Nokia Discussion Boards,

Well,After reading you post what I understand is that the device 5800 Xpressmusic is not displaying the game/app in half of the screen. and half of the screen is displaying is the circle over it arrow keys and at the bottom of the screen A,B,C,D..
    Please try this,
    go to the setting->Application Manager->installed applications->your app/game name
then select the options and then suite setting -> on-screen keyboard-> set here OFF.
and restart the app/game then I am sure that you will be able to run the app/game in full screen.

Please check that whether this helps you,
    Thanks with Regards,

    R a j - The K e r n e l

Yes, this was exactly the problem and the solution. This is a new phone for me so I was unaware of this setting.

    Thank you for the help!

    You can also add:

    Code:
    Nokia-MIDlet-On-Screen-Keypad: no
to the application's JAD or MANIFEST file.
