    Security Problems with FileLogger

    Hi All,

I have an application that runs OK on E51. When I add the FileLogger dll and tried to run it I get "Can't exucute for security reasons" error message.

In my pkg file I have the line
    "C:\Symbian\9.2\S60_3rd_FP1\epoc32\release\gcce\urel\FileLogger.dll" -"!:\sys\bin\FileLogger.dll"

And I have the capabilities ReadUserData WriteUserData in the FileLogger mmp file, in my app mmp file and in my cert.

    Any Suggestions?

    Thanks,
    Nahum

Check your application Capability should be same as DLL capability, like if you are using ReadDeviceData only in DLL then ur application should have ReadDeviceData only.

Golden Rule "DLL must have more or at least the same capabilities as the process loading them."

    Re: Security Problems with FileLogger

What didn't work and what exactly is the problem?

Run your application in the emulator and then search for *PlatSec* entries generated by your application in %temp%\epocwind.out, they will tell you which capabilities are needed and why.

    Re: Security Problems with FileLogger

I added all the capabilities that my app uses to the mmp of the file logger. Then:
    1)abld build gcce urel
    2) abld freeze gcce
    3) abld build gcce urel

    Then on my app:
    1) makesis
    2) sign sis

I can't run it on the emulatur since it uses APS.

    Thanks,
    Nahum

Please reveal the secret and show the contents of your .mmp file for File logger and for your application.
