Question Required application access not granted

    Hi there,

    i am a newbie, and trying to program Qt for Symbian. I am using;

    1. Nokia N95 8GB
    2. Qt 4.6.2
    3. S60 SDK 3rd ed. FP 2. v1.1

I have installed everything. The problem is i am getting "Required application access not granted" when i try to install
cameracapture, writemessage etc examples in the Qt API beta SDK. If i try to download slideshow (also an example in Qt API beta SDK), i have no problems.

I have turned off application signing in the phone. How can i install the above examples to try on the phone? From there on, if i develop my own program, how do i use them without signing (for development first)?

I am doing this, as mentioned in the install.txt
    Code:
    createpackage -i [example]_template.pkg release-gcce

    hi,

it means your application is trying to access api's without proper capabilities.

Re: Required application access not granted

I have tried doing "Open Signed Online" for cameracapture.sis example from the SDK, and yet, when i install the signed program, i am having the same problem = "Required application access not granted".

What i am doing wrong? I am sure there must be a way to install the examples, at least to learn programming?!

Well, not exactly. It means that the certificate that was used for signing is not valid for the capabilities specified in the application.

    uus831,

Since you are using Open Signed Online, have you made sure that
    a) The UID of the app is in the range 0xE0000000...0xEFFFFFFF?
    a) The app you are trying to sign is not using CommDD, MultimediaDD, NetworkControl, DiskAdmin, DRM, AllFiles or TCB?

Re: Required application access not granted

    Hi,

    1. the UID of the program is

    UID 0x100039CE 0xEe55ed11
    SECUREID 0xEe55ed11

so i guess it is not in the range you have mentioned. What should i do? Can i modify it manually?

    2. I am not sure if the camera example uses any of the mentioned libraries. I am trying to build the sample application that came with Qt Api Beta

    http://qt.nokia.com/doc/qtmobility-1.../examples.html

I am using Nokia N95 8GB, hope that you can guide me to the next step. Thanks.

Re: Required application access not granted

    1) Yes, 0xEe55ed11 is in the 0xE??????? range so that is OK. In fact if the UID would be wrong you could not sign the app on Open Signed Online. You can also change the UID, but only once you know what you are doing (i.e. not yet )

    2) Those are platform security capabilities, not libraries. You can check them from the *.pro file, under the TARGET.CAPABILITY statement ( here's one version of it but check in the version you are actually using. http://qt.nokia.com/doc/qtmobility-1...pture-pro.html )
