    Is it possible to get the thumbnail from a video clip ?

    I have tried to use VideoControl.getSnapshot() to capture an image frame while playing a video. But it doesn't seem to work.

    Any suggestion are welcome.

    Thanks,

    Kang

    I think you are using a class that extends Canvas or GameCanvas

    put on video clip on the screen and use the method copyArea(..) of the class Graphics

    i dont know if it works! let know if works, ok?

    Re: Is it possible to get the thumbnail from a video clip ?

    Hi everybody, it's my first post here.

    I want to get a snapshot from a video file (not from the camera), but I also have some problems:
    using the default java emulator, the getSnapshot function either
    - throws a timeout exception (when I call it as myPlayer.getSnapshot(null) )
    - throws a not-supported encoding type or just fails to start the Camera snapshot (when I call it as myPlayer.getSnapshot("encoding=jpeg") ) (it also happens with png and bmp)

    According to the first case, it seems that it expects getSnapshot to be called ONLY when I try to capture a live video from the camera, not from a video.
    What should I do?

    Thanks in advance

    Hey!
    I am able to get the snapshot from the video..

    I am starting a new thread to get the SnapShot. I am just writing what i have done in run method of Thread class

    public void run () {
    try {
    //vidc is object of VideoControl class
    byte[] snap = vidc.getSnapshot ("encoding=jpeg");
    if (snap != null) {
    Image im = Image.createImage (snap, 0, snap.length);

    }
    }
    catch (MediaException me) {
    System.err.println (me);
    }
    }
