    You might be able to launch the default email application using:

    Code:
    platformRequest("mailto:someone@somewhere.com");
    But you can't use it "transparently" to send an email for your application without the use noticing.

    You need to have an SMTP server - the device's email application needs to be configured with an SMTP server, or it can't send email.

    in j2me,
    and tell me how device's email application needs to be configured with an SMTP server?

    I have no idea if this will work. Read the Java Docs for the MIDlet class, for the platformRequest() method. platformRequest() is used to ask the underlying platform to do something for you, such as open a web page or dial a phone number. The argument to this method is a URL. The platform handles the request by matching the protocol in the URL ("http:", "tel:", etc.) to an application, and launching that application. So, if the protocol is "http:", the browser is launched; if the protocol is "tel:", then the phone dialler is launched. Most devices will support "http:" and "tel:"; other protocols are optional. Series 60 devices might, if you're lucky, support "mailto:". You'll have to try it and see.

    All email is sent via SMTP servers. This is fundamental to the way email works. When you set up an email account on your email client, you will be asked to provide an "outgoing mail server" name, which is the SMTP server.

    Re: send email from device using j2me but not using smtp server

    really sorry for asking may question to you

    i have successfully opening the Nokia N97 email Composer application with setting (recipient)To field in default email composer application using provided code by you :-platformRequest("mailto:someone@somewhere.com");
    but i also want to set subject,message-body of default email application of Nokia N97 device ,
    and as well as possible then also send automatically from my developed application(which is developing in j2me)

    means i want to send email on my command clikining event without opening email composer application?

    I understand. As I wrote in my earlier post, you cannot do this. There is no "send mail API". If you want to send email directly from your application, then you must write the code to so it (or find someone else's code).
