Emulator won't start (error creating session)

    Hi,

I have a "new" problem with my carbide 2.4.0 (which works fine previously), when I launch the emulator (either the s60_3rd_mr or s60_5th edition), it takes a while and I get a dialog box with "error creating session"

if I clic on the details buttons I get no more information.

I have already tried to delete the entire workspace, install the pending updates, I have re-installed the previous version (2.3) without success !!

PS: epoc.exe runs fine from windows explorer.

    any idea please ???
    thanks in advance,
    Domi.

Re: Emulator won't start (error creating session)

My guess is that you have the debug session configured to start your application exe (MoyRebenok.exe) rather than start the emulator (epoc.exe). As you can see in the log file the application exits with a KErrNotFound (-1) error, my guess before the debugger gets to attach to it, therefore the "Error creating session" message. Where is your first breakpoint set btw, E32Main or higher in the call stack?

Do have a look at http://wiki.forum.nokia.com/index.ph...arbide.c%2B%2B and see if changing the launched process helps you progress with the debug. Also have a look at your project setup and check that all the needed libraries are available, for the process to be able to be created.

Re: Emulator won't start (error creating session)

I think I know someone facing the same error. That person has created a bug report in Carbide.c++'s Bugzilla and the problem is currently investigated.

Re: Emulator won't start (error creating session)

i've fixed error "error creating session",
    solution:
    1. run de.exe (carbide debugger) (not runned in task manager)
    2. updated all uid3's in files MyApp.pkg, MyAppApplication.h and MyApp_reg.rss;
    thank you ltomuta.

Re: Emulator won't start (error creating session)

djbaxo, can you be more explicited with :

"run de.exe (carbide debugger) (not runned in task manager", do you mean that you launch de.exe outside of Carbide ?

I don't think that updating the uid3's solves the problem ....

PS: my problem is not yet solved, I have now carbide v2.5.0 and always the same problem !

I have something in my log, what is that ?

    Code:
    Warning
    Tue Mar 23 11:59:07 CET 2010
Could not find or launch Raptor script 'sbs.bat'; SBSv2 support will not be available

java.io.IOException: Cannot run program "sbs.bat": CreateProcess error=2, The system cannot find the file specified
    any other idea ?
    Thanks,
    Domi.

Re: Emulator won't start (error creating session)

    Hi,

after more tests (and a bit of luck), I think I have found the problem, this was due to my antivirus/firewall (I use BitDefender Total Security 2010), if I disable the anti-virus, the problem is over !! (firewall has no effect)

Hope someone facing the same problem can confirm that.
    Domi.

Re: Emulator won't start (error creating session)

    Hi,

I have now run into the same problem with Carbide 3.3. I also have BitDefender Antivirus 2011. But even after disabling the antivirus it doesn't work.
Does anybody have any more advices?

    Thanks!
