    Device Reboot Using RHttpTransaction

    Hello People,
I have a problem using RHttpTransaction.
It manifests itself when I do the following stress scenario:

    1. Open an RConnection on a pre-defined IAP with Internet, and call Start on it.
    2. When the connection is established, I start downloading a file using RHttpSession/RHttpTransaction (code taken from: http://www.forum.nokia.com/info/sw.n...I_Example.html)
    3. when download finished - I close the connection.

Now, if performing those three steps in a loop, and disconnect the internet from time to time using the device's WLan manager - The device reboots itself (this usually takes 3-4 minutes of such stress for the reboot).

Is there some sort of delay I should wait or other method I need to call after an outside disconnection in the middle of a file transfer ?

    Thanks In Advance,
    Ynon

Some older firmwares were reported to die after a few hundred cycles of activation-deactivation of the WLAN interface.
A firmware update may or may not help. The application design may be polished too.

    Re: Device Reboot Using RHttpTransaction

    Hello Wizard_hu,
I'm afraid that's not the issue, for the following reasons:

    1. This happened for me on both old N95s and new N97s, all with firmware upgraded.

    2. I only get the restarts if I try to download a file using HTTP, and while downloading - disconnect the device from the network using the WLan Manager. Then the device will restart on the next loop iteration.
That's why I suspect the RHttpTransaction is to blame.

Do you know if there's somewhere I can look at the HTTP transport framework source code, to research this further ?

    10x,
    Ynon

Yes, it is almost sure that the RHTTPXy stuff is open sourced. http://developer.symbian.org, Source/Browse code, Search OSS code, then search for some API (like RHTTPSession) in anything else than "API_REF", and you will quickly find the place where rhttpxy.cpp-s are.
You can also download the related package (or the entire Symbian source) of course.
