    Action button in N97

    Hi all,
My application is a background running application which comes to foreground on keeping the center button pressed for fixed seconds.
The issue with N97 is it has just three buttons on the front panel.Green,Red and the Menu.
Any suggestions as to which button should be/can be used for the above functionality as i do not want the user to slide open and then press the center button in N97..

    Regards

As N97 or any touch only devices donot have Physical keys so that approach might not work now. you have to think some other way like dialing a number to launch your application.

Thanks Kumar.but the application has to be launched quickly and easily and dialling a number is not an option.
I will be surely trying this soon. But any anticipation as to how the menu key will react???

Holding down the menu key for a long time brings up the task list.
Holding down the red key for a long time disconnects the data link
Holding down the green key for a long time starts voice commands.

There are no free keys at least that I am aware of that could be used.

    Hi Paul,
I do not mind if the task list opens. My application will be in background and after say four seconds it will come to foreground.
SO my assumption is it should not work different than the center button in 3rd edition devices.
Any other drawbacks that could happen..?

I donot suggest using the Menu agree with Paul about no usable keys for your type of applications,

why do u say so??can you elaborate?
Even when the center key is pressed in 3rd edition devices the task assigned to it is opened say the Contacts or Messaging. But only when the key is kept pressed for 4 seconds does the background app comes to foreground. All functionalities work as normal
