Question how to check if running inside a widget or browser?

I have deveoped a plug-in for the browser and I need to check whether the plug-in has been loaded in a widget or broswer??

I don't wanna use "if (window.widget) ..." as its value can be overridden and the plug-in can be fooled. Is there any symbian API or any other workaround by which i can check if i'm inside a widget or broswer.

    Please help!!
    Thanks.

Re: how to check if running inside a widget or browser?

    Hello ashishgoyal_86,

all the widget environment can be someway overridden, by implementing a "fake" WRT APIs facade (something like the development environment that you use to test the widget on Firefox/Aptana).

Anyway, if a "malicious" user would manage to use your widget from a browser, he would simply end up with a not-properly working web app, so I don't see a big issue here.. but maybe I'm missing something?

Question Re: how to check if running inside a widget or browser?

got the solution. I can simply check the name of the process whether it is BrowserNG.exe or WidgetUi.exe

But should I do string comparison on the name of the process or should I check its UID?? Is the UID expected to change with different devices?
