Question Facebook API for JavaME Application

    Hi all,

I want to use Facebook API in my JavaME Application (MIDP 2.0 and CLDC 1.1). I am successfully able to use Twitter API in JavaME Application.

Kindly waiting for any useful link or anything that will be helpful for me.

    Regards,

Let me explain actually what I want to develop.

    1) Application will have a form with one input field for writing some text.
    2) A Facebook user id and password input fields where user will enter their Facebook id and password.
    3) Now user press Post from menu item then application will send the post to their facebook members.

The same thing is working for my application for Tweeting the tweets to Twitter user.

If anything is unclear please let me know.

    Regards,
    Narendar

    Hi Narendar ,

Did you go through the OAuth process for Twitter ?? What steps did you take to build it ?

    Thanks

    Hi Ashwin,

Actually my team member has done the Twitter job. He is not using OAuth process for Twitter because Twitter doesn't require any authentication.

And I'm looking solution for Facebook and I did not get any solution yet.

If you have any idea regarding Facebook, please let me know.

    Regards,
    Narendar

Re: Facebook API for JavaME Application

well just to be short about it :
J2ME itself doesnt come with a FaceBook API (as you probably already discovered), so you won't be able to just import a specific library from J2ME and use it...
Facebook most probably does have some kind of interface (like a web service or something) which you can use, so I'd say check out what they offer as an interface and build your client side to use it...
Web Services can be accessed from J2ME (if the device has the needed JSR) so I guess it should be possible...

Just saw Graham wrote two great Wiki articles for Web Services and XML pasring, have a look at those :

Lightbulb Re: Facebook API for JavaME Application

As per my team member for Twitter, he is importing some third party jars in the JavaME Application and simply using that api for making tweets by supplying twitter user id and password. Its working properly.

Same thing we want in Facebook, but there is no such jars/api available, actually I did not get yet.

So any help regarding Facebook highly welcomed.

    Narendar

    eehhrnmm...
Did you have a look if they have a Web Service or some kind of interface which you could use to build your OWN api ?
Do you have a link at the twitter API ?

Re: Facebook API for JavaME Application

well they are talking a bout a Graph API on that site, it seems to me it just does https calls, which is also possible with J2ME...
another option would be to look at the unofficial Android SDK (http://code.google.com/p/fbconnect-android/) which is a port of the I-phone SDK, which might mean you could port it to J2ME from Android...

Personally looking at your answers and how difficult you are doing about it it would seem you want a simple/easy way out..
well it looks like there isn't one, but we gave plenty of good tips to get started... If there is no Facebook J2ME API then I guess someone will have to make it, why not you ?
