    Video file

    Hi all,

i would say if there is a way to play a video file(.mp4) stored in the local file system of the mobile device?
    I' ve tried with

    Player player = Manager.createPlayer(getClass().getResourceAsStream("file:///root1/video.mp4"),"/video/mpeg");

    but i always receive a java.lang.IllegalArgumentException.

    Best regards

    Re: Video file

    Hi all,

i've solved the problem with the FileConnection API but now i' ve another problem.
With the Player player = Manager.createPlayer(InputStream ,String mimeType) i can't play a video longer than 1-2 MB.
How can i play a long mp4 video from the mobile's filesystem?
There is a method to play a longer video or there is a method to get a buffered input stream to accomplish the problem?

    Best regards

    Re: Video file

Does anybody known how can i create a player with the Manager.createPlayer(DataSource) if the video stored in the filesystem is in mp4 format?
I always receive a Media Format exception when a create the player but otherwise it works perfectly if the video is in 3gp format.

    Alright!!
Try to test the application on the real device,I am sure that this will work.
AFAIK emulator can play mpeg files however these are unable to play files like mp4 or 3gp since emulator cannot supports all these extensions of the videos. But id you will test this on the real device then this will be played for sure if that extension is supported by the real device. Please note that if you are unable to play such files on emulators then that does not mean there is issue with the code.
    Thanks with Regards,
