    Qt Creator deb package

    Hi,

    Can we create a deb package for our Qt app from the QtCreator?

    No you cannot. Packaging of Qt application is described in this wiki article:

    To continue,
    debian package creation from the IDE will be supported - just not there yet.

    I found that tutorial difficult to follow, this article on compiling and packing .deb files on Windows was much easier and had no errors (at least for me)

    Does QtCreator add .desktop file automatically? Maybe you should add it manually to your project.

    Try
    Code:
    dpkg -L your_package_name > my_package_content.txt
    it will list content of your package content to the file. Does it has something like
    /usr/share/applications/hildon/my_application.desktop
    ?

    Re: Qt Creator deb package

    Hi,
    I already found it.

    It is one of the build steps...now all I need to do is to get it to accept a .desktop file and other stuff.

    Is there some documentation or tutorial available on how to use it?

    Cheers

    Re: Qt Creator deb package

    I think there are still some missing features in QT Creator 2.0/SDK 1.0 deb creation, link to thread

    Here's a simple guide how i've been creating
    packages for precompiled QT app:

    1. Compile the app binary (scratchbox/QTCreator)

    2. Create simple deb using dpkg tool chapter 4
    * Create temporarly folder
    * Copy QT app binary to <tmp>/usr/bin
    * Create app.desktop to <tmp>/usr/share/applications/hildon
    * Copy icon to <tmp>/usr/share/pixmap
    * Create .deb control file according to "chapter 4", set "Section" parameter in control file to user/system
    * dpkg --build tmp

    => deb ready

    Your approach is not correct. The right way to create package a Qt app for maemo is explained at http://wiki.maemo.org/Packaging_a_Qt_application
    NOTE: the debian/rules file can be simplified using CDBS..
