Unhappy Using the native Camera - J2me / Symbian

    Hi All,

    I am using nokia 5800,

I would like to write a short program that will run after the "native camera"
( the "normal" program that operates the camera that comes with the phone )

I want to scale the photos and send them to my web site.

    *
i already wrote a j2me program that uses the "Manager.createPlayer("capture://video")"

    *
I saw that it is possible to do it in blackberry / iPhone .. can it be done in nokia ?

Thank you for your help !

You can try platform request on "capture://video" and see if works, I am not sure and we dont have any other thing in J2me to invoke other native apps from within our j2me app.

Scaling of photo can be done with some thumbnailing algo;s that we can use directly on raw binary data of captured image and then it can be send to the server.

    thanks,

You can use JSR 234 if your device support to get most of the features of your native camera app to your j2me app.

    javax.microedition.amms.control.camera

Try using J2ME API Bridge Interface you can find here http://wiki.forum.nokia.com/index.ph...idge_Interface

Re: Using the native Camera - J2me / Symbian

    Hi All,

I tried using the Api Bridge with a J2ME app on Nokia E5 but was not successful in invoking the camera. Has somene been successful in getting this working? I could not get the samples provided in the site to work too. I get the following error: "Bridge error occured - unable to retrieve data. ". Can someone kindly help me with this.

    Thanking you,
    Regards,

    Hi All,

I got it working by first installing the ApiBridge.sis file onto the device and then the sample.

    Thanking you,
